Shedeur Sanders is a highly accurate quarterback with a quick release and strong arm, excelling in distributing the ball efficiently. He thrives in a clean pocket but struggles with mobility under pressure. While he lacks elite athleticism, his football IQ and decision-making make him a strong prospect in the right system. His performance is limited by Colorado’s weak offensive line, affecting deep passing opportunities. Though he hasn’t faced top-tier defenses, his ability to avoid critical mistakes stands out. With the right personnel, he could excel in a structured, low-risk offense.

Strengths

Shedeur Sanders – Quarterback at Colorado
  • Quick throwing motion and a laser arm. Great at distributing the ball to playmakers in space. Highly accurate – #1 in the country.
  • Can operate efficiently with a clean pocket when he gets one. A durable player who can take a lot of hits and not let it faze him.
  • Puts up great numbers and doesn’t make the big critical mistakes. Always willing to make the smart play over the hero ball type play.
  • Does the most with an extremely limited offense – Due to lack of personnel, there’s not a ton of looks at throwing down the field – especially against capable defenses.

Weaknesses

  • Not an elite athlete by any means. When pressure comes – it’s rare to see him perform some great feat to get the ball down field.
  • Very sackable and it’s not due to a lack of size. Not very pocket elusive. Granted – his offensive line was really bad, but his lateral quickness comes into question.
  • No real experience playing against the top talented defenses (Closing speeds, blitzes and shell looks).
  • There are a ton of jailbreak screens and bubbles in this offense. Again this could be due to a very limited O-Line.

Overall

  • An old-school quarterback prospect.
  • Commands the field from the pocket and uses his knowledge of the game to manipulate defenses.
  • Puts his skill-position players in places to succeed.
  • Doesn’t have the athletic build that stands out at a combine.
  • Would do very well in a meeting room with coaches and GMs.
  • In a low risk offense – he could excel with the right personnel.

Grade and Comparison

  • Grade: 6.0/10
  • Comp: Tua Tagovailoa with a better arm
